Key Questions to ask before starting Leadership and Management training

Here is a series of of questions you can ask yourself to help you develop your leadership and management training strategy. A good leadership and management training consultant should take you through a similar questioning process.

1. What is the business goal we are trying to achieve? What problem are we trying to solve?

2. What are the milestones on the way to achieving our goal or solving our problem?

3. What will influence our success in achieveing our goal? What is causing our problem?

4. Who is involved in the goal or problem?

5. How (if at all) does their ability need to change - and to what level?

6. What diagnostic and measuring tools do we need?

7. Based on our diagnosis, what are the learning gaps that need to be addressed?

8. Are the people involved able to make the desired capability changes?

9. Have we got the time to make the changes through a training intervention - or do we need to recruit those skills?
